THE HISTORY of

bernstein&Bernsteinllp

1986

Bernstein&BernsteinLLP was first established in New York City in 1986 as Gettelson, Bernstein & Chucola by three highly experienced Certified Public Accountants, Jerry Gettelson, Alan Bernstein, and Chris Chucola. They had previously worked together under Hyman Ketchel, who owned his own accounting practice since the 1940s, and upon his retirement, the three partners acquired the business.

Over the last four decades, the firm has adapted and evolved to meet the changing needs of its clients, from its founding partners to the next generation of leadership.

Alan retired in 2021, leaving the practice to his nephew and partner, Robert, who has since heralded the family-owned and operated business into the twenty-first century by implementing intelligent technological upgrades while remaining true to the firm’s roots.

Under Robert’s guidance, the firm continues to thrive and innovate, providing seasoned accounting services to clients in the New York City Tristate area and beyond.
